Website Assessment

Website Assessment

When I first assess a website, I look at several key factors:

  • 1) Is it easy to navigate?
  • 2) Do its web pages load quickly?
  • 3) Are there any broken links?
  • 4) Do all areas of your website function properly and effectively? ... and
  • 5) Does your website adhere to World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) guidelines?

After this assessment is done, I then look at the following:

  • 1) Content, Page Structure and Keywords
  • 2) Search engine visibility of your website
  • 3) Marketing focus & unique selling proposition
  • 4) Social media activity and profiles
  • 5) Usability and user friendliness

I will generate a comprehensive set of recommendations on how to improve results for your business. This evaluation includes an assessment of mobile-friendliness and use of social media.

Today, mobile devices have changed the way people surf the net. It's critical for any business to have a mobile-friendly site since the majority of individuals visiting your site will likely to be using a mobile device. If your site is not mobile-friendly, then visitors have to zoom in in order to view your content. This can be frustrating and will ultimately lead them to abandon your site. You need a site that works well on desktops, tablets and smartphones -- and sometimes redesigning a site is a business necessity. If you are in need of a new site, WordPress or a custom site is a good option. Even starting with a template site is OK.

Research has found that most visitors will only spend up to 8 seconds on a page if the headers and paragraphs are not compelling and clear enough about what you are offering them. Having a clear call-to-action message, such as "Buy Now - Free Shipping" or "Download Now - Free 30-Day Trial", has been found to increase conversions significantly, in some reported cases the increase was over 100%. It is vital for visitors to know exactly what actions to take and in what order so that they can accomplish their goal.

I’ll take a look at what you currently have and make recommendations on areas that need improvement. Is your site mobile-friendly? Can visitors identify what you do? Are clear call-to-actions present? When I do an assessment, I review your SEO organic rankings and identify site strenghts and weaknesses (SWOT). A review of your social media channels is also done. You need a strong Web presence that delivers real value to your customers, sales prospects and business partners to be successful.
