A Japanese Tradition

Making Sushi
Japan has given the world sushi, kabuki and improved consumer products like the radio, camera and automobile. This site is dedicated to making sushi and the steps that are involved. I worked in Japan for 2 1/2 years and resided just outside central Tokyo. The sushi recipe on this website (California Rolls) is something that is more common to North America than to Japan. It was invented in Los Angeles around 1970. In Japan, sushi is not eaten every day. It is mainly served on special occasions.

In North America, the California Roll is served more frequently than it is in Japan. In Japan, you will not find many places that serve it. Sushi bars are more likely to serve Nigiri, another form of sushi. Other forms of sushi are Temakisushi, Inarisushi and Oshisushi. Whether one makes sushi themselves or orders it, the possibilities are almost endless. Every step is detailed from start to finish with applicable photos. Determine what you need and follow the 12 steps required to prepare the sushi.
