Ledger Line
The short, horizontal lines added to the top or the bottom of a staff for the reception of notes too high or too low to be represented on the staff proper. As discussed in lesson 1, ledger lines help identify the pitch of a note.
Line
An interval located between two spaces on a staff.
Note
A notational symbol used to represent the duration of a sound, and when placed on a music staff, also indicate the pitch of the sound.
