ARC Music is a site for music teachers and their students. Devoted to music theory, the aim is to advance musical ability through ARC Music and student music compositions. All teaching resources and tests associated with a composition are available from Reed Music Publications and on the main website. The mobile site is devoted to music theory covered in lessons 2 - 9 and composition related to the applicable theory. Some compositions like Mozart's Piano Sonata in C Major, K. 545, are written to teach basic fundamentals -- and some that are more advanced. One should consider a composer's use of tonic, subdominant and dominant chords -- as well as any music theory related to their use. Compositions can vary both in complexity and development.

The reason we sell ARC Music compositions is to teach music theory underlying each composition. We suggest that you consider what your students are capable of and what they need to know related to any specific composition. Remember that each individual composition in itself is a separate entity that will not make use of all applicable theory. All ARC Music publications are also available in hard-copy. For audio sources, please access the main website. ARC Music is dedicated to the advancement of music education via the Web ... and with your feedback, we'll both succeed. Music is a subject that even those who don't read/write music enjoy (cf. George Harrison on the Dick Cavett Show, 1971, Full Interview). There is more than one avenue through music theory and composition itself. Some people may prefer to just focus on classical composers. With respect to Jazz, one will very likely HAVE to read/write music. Jazz compositions tend to be more complex than rock 'n' roll compositions such as "I Want To Hold Your Hand" or "Something."

We currently have 10 supported lessons available to music teachers and their students. All inquiries with regard to the curriculum can be provided to teachers free of charge. As provided in the resources page, the 10 lessons cover a wide spectrum of music theory topics. Throughout their lessons, students may refer to the dictionary or seek further reading in the topics section. In ARC Music's curriculum, there are 8 main lessons (lessons 2-9). As shown on the lessons page, lesson 1 is an introduction to music theory and lesson 10 is the concluding lesson for the 1st set of ARC Music lessons. There are more to come. In the next set of lessons, an analysis of some common music will be done. We'll begin with classical composers, and then continue with popular music, including rock 'n' roll.
