Clef

A symbol placed at the beginning of a staff to denote which notes are indicated by the lines and spaces.

The most common clefs are:

1. The bass, or F clef, which is indicated by a stylized F.
2. The treble, or G clef, indicated by a stylized G.


Note

A notational symbol used to represent the duration of a sound and, when placed on a music staff, to also indicate the pitch of the sound.

Line

An interval located between two spaces on a staff.

Space

An interval between two lines on a staff. Each line and each space indicate different pitches.
