Introduction
I have travelled throughout the United States many times. Recently, I travelled to the Grand Canyon, Las Vegas and San Francisco. Each were unique on their own, but I would say that visiting the Grand Canyon was the highlight of the trip.
Grand Canyon
Located in Arizona, within the United States, In February I ventured to the South Rim. As the elevation is 7000 ft, there was snow on the ground, as well as vegetation common to desert/arid areas. The Canyon itself, will suddenly open up revealing different strata dug out around the Colorado River. Apart from a 4 1/2 hr ride from Las Vegas, the experience is well worth it, for the view is magnificent, and it is a good place to ride down by mule when weather is better (after February); most likely in the summer, but at this time of the year, crowds will be larger.

Trump Hotel, Las Vegas
Although on the expensive end, the suites in this hotel are quite clean, quiet at night and comfortable. The rooms are spacious, secure and have all the amenities one would need, as if they were in their own home. Situated off the main area of the strip, there is a nearby mall and taxis are available 24/7 (no need to call ahead). Easily accessible by bus or taxi, the hotel is highly rated and in a good neighbour-hood. In contrast to the next entry, we had no complaints.

Europa Hotel, San Francisco
Low cost does not always mean that at a hotel is adequate. As well, booking at a time when people are out and about for a special occasion (e.g. Valentines Day) does not always lead to many choices re: accommodation. In the case of this hotel, I should have read ALL the reviews -- as it is situated in the red light district and has a strip joint below. Besides, there is only shared washrooms, something that many women might complain about, in addition to the noise. The hotel has had bed bugs, it cannot be easily accessed via a car and the place is noisy at night until early morning (2-4 am). Besides, it is somewhat rundown. There are better alternatives. It lacks what should be in a descent hotel. But it was one of the few available during the period around Valentines Day. Certainly not a place to stay for that occasion. The less time spent there, the better. Compared to the Trump Hotel, this hotel is at the opposite end.
